Small Appliances for Condos

January 2016

Condo living is an opportunity for luxury in the form of smaller appliances.

As condos get smaller and more choose the condo lifestyle, appliance manufacturers are designing products that offer quality in smaller spaces.

Smaller spaces require less in the way of paint, tile and flooring. This can leave more money to create a more luxurious space with better quality appliances, fixtures and furniture.

Europeans live in smaller spaces than we are accustomed to in Canada. Bosch has been servicing this market for decades. They have brought their products for smaller spaces to Canada.

Some ideas for making better use of smaller condo spaces:

  • Compact washer/dryer sets. Smaller condo suites don’t require full size washer/dryer sets designed to handle larger loads typical of larger families.  Duct-free dryers which do not have to vent outside. These are easier on clothing because they don’t get as hot yet dry clothing just as well. Fewer clothes need to be ironed. This innovation is more likely to appeal to singles, empty nesters and those without children. Duct-free dryers can be placed anywhere in a condo.
  • For wine aficionados, Koolatron manufactures a mini wine fridge designed for proper storage of wine at just the right temperature. It reduces vibration, which can occur when wine bottles sit next to each other, which can cause chemical reactions affecting the flavour. It includes dual compartments for red and white wine. The mini wine fridge can sit in any corner of your kitchen or under an island.
  • A ductless ventilation system for the kitchen is available from Jenn-Air. This allows venting without the need for a vent hood connected to air ducts. It sits behind and below the cooktop. A vent rises above the cooktop to capture smoke, heat and odours at the touch of a button.
