Some feel that living in smaller spaces can be difficult.
Those who have made the leap find the opposite is true.
In many, perhaps most, instances the hurdle that has to be overcome is storing stuff you want and don’t need.
Ever watch Love It or List It? In many episodes one has to wonder how anyone can live with that much clutter and mess. Good as the designer is, cleaning up and clearing out unused stuff is half the solution.
Decluttering begins with selling whatever you’ve collected and not used for the past few years or decades. This may include figurines, dolls, stuffed animals, books and glassware. Next to get rid of are the tables, shelves, credenzas and other items used to display the stuff that has been sold, donated or thrown out.
Once the process begins life becomes easier. There is less to clean, dust and manage.
Once the move to a smaller condo is complete it is time to make the most of the smaller space.
Smaller means less costly to furnish. That smaller kitchen can be nicer than the larger kitchen that was left behind. A marble counter and backsplash is less expensive when installed in that smaller space. In addition, money saved on flooring for that smaller kitchen can be used to purchase nicer appliances.
