Illegal parking or stopping in the heavily congested Yonge and Sheppard area is now more expensive.
New rules have increased the fine for parking in no-stopping zones during rush hour from $60 to $150.
Residents and commuters in the area will hopefully have fewer problems with vehicles stopped in curb lanes. This may include delivery drivers and those picking up a coffee or waiting for someone. These individuals cause traffic backups, slow down commuters and create traffic hazards.
Fines are to be enforced from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday to Friday.
