Good security is an important part of condo living. It is also an extraordinarily large expense if taken to excess.
Most condos incorporate some combination of the following security to deter break-ins, theft and vandalism;
- Manned Security Desk
- Security Cameras
- Door and/or Garage Access System
- In-unit Security System
While all these systems serve a purpose, they are nothing more than deterrents. As with all systems, each has limits that can be exploited. For this reason, security investments may be better viewed as a deterrent than as a complete or secure solution.
An essential component of security is active vigilance by owners and residents. Without active resident participation, any mechanical or electronic system will prove inadequate.
