It is not uncommon for condominium corporation rules or by-laws to limit use of condo suites to single-family dwellings.
This makes it harder for groups of unrelated individuals to share a single suite. It can prevent renters, boarders and even extended family members from living in the suite. This helps protect other condo owners from the negative implications and additional costs of such use.
While unintended, this restriction may also prohibit live-in caregivers from residing in the condo.
Condo corporations intending to prevent renters, boarders and extended family members from residing in residential condo suites may want to consider ways to allow for live-in caregivers.to also reside in condo suites.
