For those who want to increase the resale value of their condo a few upgrades can have a big impact.
Hardwood floors are popular. Laminate flooring or faux-wood are lower cost options when of good quality. Unlike carpets, solid flooring does not wear out. The biggest problem is near heavy furniture, such as in a bedroom, where carpets wear near the furniture.
When floors are uncarpeted, it is best to invest in area rugs and sound insulating material. These prevent in-suite sounds from being heard in neighbouring suites and possibly being in contravention of building rules.
In the kitchen and bathroom, granite or quartz counter tops are popular and durable. Laminate and cheaper stone are more likely to get marked up.
Storage is highly valued and always in demand. The popularity of smaller condo suites means there is a greater premium placed on good storage. Separate spaces for shoes, linen and other items make a closet look neater and larger. Drawer organizers are also helpful.
Good lighting that coordinates with the space makes a solid first impression.
Quality handles and knobs make inexpensive cabinets look expensive at minimal cost.
These simple changes help to make a condo space more luxurious and command more value.
