A Niagara Falls-type flooding event at Emerald Park condominiums, Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave., on April 27, 2021 was captured on video.
The video shows water cascading down building stairwells, pouring through ceilings, streaming down through the elevator shaft and pooling on the carpet. Water was seen dripping on the outside of the building. Elevators were out of service and residents were asked to vacate their units.
The problem appears to have been a burst water pipe on the 42nd floor. Units from the 25th to the 42nd floor were deemed uninhabitable.
