Pandemic concerns have prompted the developer of The One, currently under development at Bloor and Yonge, to incorporate changes in preparation for future pandemics.
Changes will include:
- Residents will be able to call an elevator using an app on their phone rather than touching buttons. The app will know your floor number without having to touch anything in the cab.
- Food and other deliveries will have a designated drop-off area away from people to reduce face-to-face contact.
- More space between chairs on patio, pool area and other common areas.
- Equipment barriers between machines in the exercise room.
Incorporating planned changes into the building design can be more effective than immediate responses to a crisis.
