Using Amenities to Build Your Community

December 2014

Having rationalized amenities by eliminating those that do not justify the expense, find creative ways to make better use of the space that enhances your condo community.

Here are a few simple and economical suggestions ……..

  • Employ a part time organizer to arrange quarterly social gatherings, monthly speakers, movies, book review evenings, etc.
  • Turn an unused squash court into a yoga, Pilates and/or exercise class studio. Charge a fee for classes if corporation funds are not available for this purpose. Open classes to non-residents if internal demand is insufficient to run classes.
  • Convert an available room into a Card and Games Room. Stock it with adult games.
  • A Wii Room has become popular for adults, including seniors, as a form of active entertainment and exercise. It is a great alternative to a TV or Media Room that may be unused most of the time.
  • Children are residents also deserving of space. If your building has or desires to attract families, a kid’s room incorporating a play area, reading space, colourful kid’s oriented seating and other features may be appropriate.
  • A juice bar or free coffee in a café setting is a way to encourage socialization.
  • Consider bean bag chairs or other fun sitting for a lounge area.
  •  Create a BBQ space for residents.
