The Privacy Act

February 2018

Condo corporations may, at times, deem it appropriate to employ vendors to communicate with or provide services to residents.  They may also employ vendors to manage electronic, print or mailed communications.

The Privacy Act relates to an individual’s right to access and correct personal information the Government of Canada holds about them.  It governs the Government’s collection, use and disclosure of this personal information in the course of providing services such as old age pensions or employment insurance.

The Privacy Act only applies to federal government institutions listed in the Privacy Act Schedule of Institutions.

The Privacy Act does not pertain to condo corporations.  It does not impact on condo corporations that deem it appropriate to provide condo resident contact information to vendors they choose to work with while providing services to residents.
